James Raymond Baker, age 70, of Ypsilanti, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Trinity Health Hospital. He was born on January 1, 1955, in Beyer Hospital, Ypsilanti, to the late James C. and Ruth Jean (Morris) Baker.

James was employed for 11 years with Taco Bell Food Service, retiring in October of 1999. He was a long-time resident of Ypsilanti, Michigan, and also spent part of his life in Charleston, West Virginia. James was a member of Ypsilanti Baptist Temple, where his faith played a central role in his life.

In his free time, James enjoyed gardening, building models, and playing video games. He also found joy in journaling and writing Christian affirmations.

James is survived by his beloved wife, Mary E. Baker; one son, Brian Keith Baker; one sister, Iris Baker; and one granddaughter, Alissa Renee Baker Goltz. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his father James C. Baker, mother Ruth Jean (Morris) Baker, brothers David and Wayde Baker, and sister Debbie Baker.

The family has chosen simple cremation.
