James "J.T" Hunter, Jr.

Age 79 of Ypsilanti, MI, went to be with the Lord on February 19, 2024.

He was born in Waynesboro, Georgia to James Hunter, Sr. and Pearl Hillis on July 7, 1944.  James moved to Michigan to work for the auto companies.  Completing his career of 38.2 years with General Motors, working at the Willow Run Plant until it closed then moving to The Toledo Power Train Plant.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing and watching old Westerns.

He is survived by his two sons James (Ruby) Hunter, III of Ypsilanti, MI, Duane (Lori) Hunter of Willis, MI and one grandson Darren Hunter of Willis, MI, one sister Mary Ellen (Buddy) Royal of Girard, GA, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

James "J.T." was proceeded in death by his loving wife of 45 years Elaine Hunter and his parents.

A funeral service will be held 12 pm on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Stark Funeral Professionals (101 S. Washington St., Ypsilanti). The family will receive friends at the funeral home 3-8 pm Thursday, February 22, 2024 and 2-8 pm Friday, February 23, 2024. James will be laid to rest in Alban Cemetery.
