Hunt Sr., James Franklin

Ypsilanti, MI

Age 88, went home to be with the Lord December 8, 2024. He was born March 3, 1936 in Weir, MS, the son of Townsend E. and Lucille (Gordon) Hunt.

James retired from General Motors Company after a successful 29-year career. He attended Community Church of God. In his free time, James enjoyed bowling, fishing, gardening and cooking. He loved spending time with his family.

James is survived by his daughter Juanice Hunt of Ypsilanti, MI; son James F. (Starr) Hunt Jr. of Forney, TX; grandchildren Cedric (Amber) Howard Jr. of South Lyon, MI; Nathaniel J. Caldwell of Ypsilanti, MI; Garrin (Bryanna) Hunt of Hampton, VA and Jovan (Raven) Hunt of Van Buren, MI; six great-grandchildren; three bonus grandchildren Lynesha, Dywane and Dyrrell Richardson; and sisters Mamie Dale Little and Bonnie (Willie) Gilmore.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Joan C. Hunt, parents Townsend and Lucille Hunt; brothers Sammie Lee Hunt, Purvis L. Hunt, Howard D. Hunt, Townsend E. Hunt, Louis D. Hunt, Charles M. Hunt and Joe Jr. Miller; and sisters Carrie H. Hunt and Mary L. Duncan.

A funeral service will be held 12 pm Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Abundant Life Ministries (855 E. Clark Road, Ypsilanti). Pastor Jerry Jackson Jr. will officiate. Family hour will begin at 11 am. James will be laid to rest in United Memorial Gardens, Superior Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
