Idora Marie Fidler, Dorie, passed peacefully on March 15 at age 97. She was preceded in death by the love of her life James Journey Fidler—Jim—and a son, David, who died at childbirth. Dorie was born in Portland, Indiana to Alva and Winnifred Cline, one of four daughters. Her siblings Jane, Rosemary, and Irene preceded her in death. During high school, she met Jim, and after he served heroically in the Navy during WWII, they married and moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan. Upon retiring, they spent half of the year in Florida. In later years, they moved to the Willows Senior Living in East Lansing, where they both passed.

Traveling with Jim throughout the United States and Canada, often in their camper, was of special importance for Dorie. They treasured family, fishing trips, playing cards and camping, especially when joined by their grandchildren. Dorie loved bird watching and visiting Michigan's many lighthouses. Dorie enjoyed crafting; she painted, took pottery classes, knitted, and crocheted. Holidays were always special and she loved to decorate the house and welcome family home.

Dorie is survived by her two children: a devoted daughter, Pam Schreiner (Jerry) of Holt and her two children, Jacob Boyd (Katie Larsen) of Wisconsin and Nichole Selleck (Jeff) and their children (Caitlin and Elyse) of Eagle, and son Bob Fidler (Janine) of Chelsea and their two children Benjamin (Meghan Milbrath) of Negaunee and Samantha Lovell (Brandon) of Saline.

A private family service will be held to celebrate Dorie's life. A very special thank you to the exceptional care and love shown by the staff at The Willows of East Lansing and ProMedica Hospice.
