Ypsilanti, MI

Age 38, went home to be with her Savior on Monday, September 5, 2022 at Beaumont Hospital Royal Oak with her family by her side. Heather was born May 24, 1984 in Ypsilanti, MI, the daughter of William "Bill" and Terry (Johnson) Garrett. She grew up in Ypsilanti and attended Calvary Christian Academy.

Heather was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Palmer and Maxine Johnson; paternal grandparents Willie and Dorothy Garrett; a baby brother, and several aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her parents William and Terry Garrett; brother Todd (Christie) Garrett, boyfriend Jeremy Mayhew, nieces Lexie Rena Garrett and Delaney Nicole Garrett; aunts Wilma Potter and Elaine Johnson, uncles Ricky (Dixie) Johnson, Gary (Barb) Johnson, Ronnie Johnson, Johnny (Terry) Johnson and Jamie Lou Johnson; along with many close cousins.

Heather was a devout Christian who deeply loved her family as well as her church family. She fought and overcame several serious health conditions but never lost her faith. Despite the obstacles she faced, she would say whatever happened, she was a winner either way.

Heather's interests centered around her love of family. Her mother is her best friend, her dad's watcher. She loved putting together the next reunion, road trip or concert. She always lived life to the fullest.

A funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, September 10, 2022 at First Free Will Baptist Church (1244 Holmes Road, Ypsilanti). Reverend Walker Harris and Pastor Scott Caudill will preside. Heather will be laid to rest at Denton Cemetery in Van Buren Township, MI.

The family will receive friends 4-9 pm Friday, September 9, 2022 at Stark Funeral Professionals (101 S. Washington Street, Ypsilanti). A wake service will begin at 6:30 pm.
