Our beloved Jeraline Weightman was born in Memphis, TN, on September 4, 1954. She was the daughter of Pearline (Madden) Weightman and the late Frank Bateman. She shared her love and uniqueness with her Great Aunt Mariah Moore and her Grandmother Emma Madden. At an early age she began living with her uncle and aunt, Eddie and Lois Holman where she spent the remainder of her adolescent years. She came to love and cherish Eddie and Lois as her parents and their children as bonus brothers and sisters.

Geraldine, our name for her, attended West Middle School and later graduated from Ypsilanti High School in 1972.

Geri, as we affectionately called her, enjoyed helping others and she expressed that passion through her work as a Certified Nurse's Assistant. Geri cared for and helped countless number of people through her job with Trinity Health Care. Notably, she served as a live-in care giver for Messias Temple's former Pastor Laura Bass until she passed.

Geri loved the Lord and gave her life to God at an early age. She was baptized in Jesus' name and filled with God's precious gift of the Holy Ghost at Messias Temple. Geri was very active in the church's music department, and she had a natural talent for singing. She sang with U of M's Trotter House Choir, Messias Temple's Choir and was a founding member of the Pentecostal Sounds. You can hear her amazing voice on Messias Temple's album, recorded live in 1980. She is the lead singer on the songs, "Sinner" and "I'll Keep You Lord". Many have been blessed and inspired by her anointed singing and her voice was greatly missed after she was stricken by several prolonged illnesses.

Geri departed this life on August 5, 2022. She was blessed to be part of a loving family who will always cherish her memories.

She is survived by:

Her Sisters: Christine Davis, Paula (Weightman) Hopewell, Gwendolyn Moore (Adam), and Lorraine Blanks (Charles)

Her Brothers: Gregory Weightman, Keith Holman (Delphine), Bradford Holman (Segred), Norman Holman (Angie), Rodney Holman (Sandra), Reginald Holman (Eleanor), Lemuel and Julian Holman.

She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with close friends, Maretta Smith, Miriam Brown, Carol "Nicey" Reeves, and Michael Swanigan, to name a few, as well as her former husband and longtime friend George Jackson.

Geri, we truly are going to miss your laugh, your smile, and beautiful voice. Is it possible that God was ready for you to join his heavenly choir? We will forever love you!

A funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Messias Temple Church with visitation beginning at 10 am (200 Harriet Street, Ypsilanti). Bishop Harry S. Grayson will officiate. The family will receive friends 4-8 pm Friday, August 19, 2022 at Stark Funeral Professionals (101 S. Washington Street, Ypsilanti). Geraldine will be laid to rest at United Memorial Gardens in Superior Township.
