Age 94, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022 in Sumpter Township, MI. He was born May 8, 1928 in Howell, MI, the son of Forest and Francis (Hassencahl) Murnighan.

Gerald loved watching baseball, especially the Detroit Tigers, and University of Michigan football. He enjoyed going to the lake and never missed the opportunity to watch his grandkids sporting events. Gerald married Norma Cooper July 11, 1959 and she survives.

In addition to his loving wife of 63 years, Gerald is survived by his children Judy (Mike Toth), Jerry, Cindy (Tim Vance), Laurie (Mike Stoianowski) and Jacque; sister-in-law Helen, daughter-in-law Debby Mayne, grandchildren Dawn, Theresa, Peggy, Mike, Ryan, Scott, Derek, Andy, Janice, Erick, Steven, Gabe, Melissa and Lisa; 32 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Mark, granddaughter Kim, daughter-in-law Brenda, sister Maxine and brother John David.

A funeral service will be held 12 pm Friday, December 30, 2022 at Stark Funeral Professionals with visitation beginning at 10 am. Pastor Gordon Moore will officiate. Gerald will be laid to rest at Alban Cemetery in Ypsilanti Township, MI.
