George Cabrera

George Cabrera, a lifelong Detroiter, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. Born on March 8, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan, George was a kind, sweet, and fun-loving soul who brought joy and laughter to everyone who knew him.

George worked at Services to Enhance Potential, where he was a valued member of the community. George lived a life full of love and resilience. He overcame many health and personal challenges, including the loss of his beloved parents, Angel and Carmen Cabrera, and his brothers, Louis and Tony Cabrera. Through it all, he maintained a warm smile, a great sense of humor, and an incredible love for life.

A devoted fan of the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers, George could often be found cheering on his favorite teams, sharing his passion and loyalty with those around him. His love for sports was matched only by his love for his family, who meant the world to him.

George is survived by his sister, Nina Rodriguez, and her husband, Norberto Rodriguez. He was a cherished uncle to his nephews, Norbert Rodriguez (Rachel) and David Rodriguez (Kristy), and a great-uncle to Alexander, Solomon, Bella, Isaiah, Gabrielle (Ryan), Maya Vigil (Ocean), Emmanuel, and Levi.

He will be forever remembered for his kindness, his lighthearted nature, and the joy he brought to those around him. George's legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A funeral service will be held 1 pm Monday, December 2, 2024 at Bethesda Bible Church with visitation starting at 11 am (1800 Huron Street, Ypsilanti). George will be laid to rest in Highland Cemetery, Ypsilanti.
