Ford, Georgann

Ypsilanti, MI

Age 87, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at her home. She was born August 15, 1934 in New Tazewell, TN, the daughter of Lennon and Elenore (Davis) Bundon.

Georgann married Joe Ford June 12, 1950 and they enjoyed 71 loving years together prior to her passing. In addition to her husband, she leaves behind five children: Steve (Donna) Ford, Joann (Eddie) Moore, Mickey Ford, Tom (Helen) Ford and Linda Sue Ford Bell; 14 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Lenore, Mary Rose, Rena and Jane; grandchildren Larry Bell and Leslie Ford Thompson; and great-granddaughter Emily Thompson.

Georgann was known to many as "Granny." She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and wife. She loved to laugh and have fun. She enjoyed Detroit Tigers baseball games, playing bingo and antiquing. She and Joe setup at the flea markets for over 25 years, and she was known to enjoy a good banter negotiating prices. Georgann adored being outside, especially with her husband, hunting, fishing and camping. She loved the color red, big hats and traveling. She loved to sing and sang ALL the time. She was a member of The Freewill Baptist Church choir whose congregation she joined around 1958.

Georgann and Joe were a true love story. Even after 71 years, they were still always holding hands. When her family would tell her "I love you," she would always reply, "I love you more." She was a pillar of strength and beauty. Georgann was loved immensely and will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be held 11 am Friday, February 18, 2022 at First Free Will Baptist Church (1244 Holmes Road, Ypsilanti, MI) with Brother Walker Harris officiating. Burial will take place following the service at Marble Park Cemetery in Milan, MI. The family will receive friends 4-8 pm Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Stark Funeral Professionals. In lieu of flowers and cards, contributions can be made to Elara Caring Hospice Foundation (900 Cooper Street, Jackson, MI 49202) in honor of Georgann Ford.
