Gary Lynn Gootee, age 77, passed away peacefully at his home on August 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 10, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan to Wilbur and Alice Gootee.

On April 30, 1969, Gary married Linda Sue (Harrison) Gootee in Ozark, Alabama. A proud Army veteran and long-time resident of Willis, Michigan, Gary worked for many years as a skilled meat cutter. He enjoyed a full life filled with hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family and beloved dogs.

Gary is survived by his devoted wife, Linda S. Gootee; his children, Scott (Diana) Gootee and Amanda (Jimmy) Fugate; and his cherished granddaughters, Danielle Gootee, Nicole (Keith) Harvey, Erin (Alex) DiBiosso, and Amber Fugate. He is also survived by his brothers, Kavin and Keith Gootee; and sisters, Shelly (Paul) Dupon and Caroline (Dave) Sauers.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Larry Gootee.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Stark Funeral Professionals, with Deacon Gary Glitz officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 am prior to the service. Burial will follow at Alban Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4-8 pm on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at the funeral home.
