Gale Henderson passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023 in Ypsilanti, Michigan, at the age of 64.

She was born in Los Angeles, California, on November 17, 1958, to Timothy and Pearlethel Henderson.

She graduated from the University of Michigan and achieved a Bachelor's Degree in History in 1981. Upon graduation Gale enlisted in the United States Army where she trained as a pharmacy technician, and earned the rank of Sergeant before receiving an honorably discharged from the Army. Upon leaving her military service, she worked as a pharmacy technician at the University of Michigan Hospital while pursuing her Masters in Information Systems and Library Science, receiving her master's in 1990.

Gale worked for over 30 years at the Detroit Public Library, having just retired in September of 2022.

Gale loved cats, baking, traveling, music, and Mystery Science Theater 3000. She was an avid writer, crafting her stories with great care and meticulousness. This attention to detail and enthusiasm extended to other areas of her life too, such as her knitting, winning awards for her knitted clothes for dolls.

Although Gale cherished her privacy and was fiercely independent, she was very close to her family with whom she shared a deep love for, and would give those she was closest to the shirt off her back if you were in need, without hesitation. She left behind: a beloved father, mother; her siblings Aaron and Bradford Henderson, and Kellie Olethia Davis; her niece Kassie Morgan and nephew Tyler Jordyn Henderson.

A memorial service will be held Friday, January 13th, 11:00am at Stark Funeral Home, 101 S. Washington, Ypsilanti, MI 48197. Memorial visiting will precede the service from 10:00am to 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested sending a donation in memory of Gale Henderson to the Humane Society of Huron Valley.
