It is with deep love and tenderness that we share the passing of Frederick D. Wilson Jr., affectionately known as Freddy D. He peacefully left this world on July 10, 2024, surrounded by the enduring love of his family. Born on March 14, 1957, Freddy was a cherished presence in Ypsilanti, MI, known for his unwavering dedication and gentle spirit.

Freddy's educational journey took him through Ypsilanti Public Schools, culminating in his graduation from Ypsilanti High School with the Class of 1975. With 35 years in the automotive industry, Freddy's commitment and integrity shone brightly throughout his professional career at the Ford Motor Company Rawsonville plant, where he retired in 2008.

From a young age, Fred's faith in Christ guided his actions, reflecting love and compassion in all he did. His home with his wife Joyce was a haven of love and joy, where he found true happiness in simple moments with his cherished family.

Family was at the center of Freddy's life, bringing him the greatest joy and fulfillment. Whether it was holiday grilling, mastering the art of smoking culinary delights, or harmonizing with music, he found pure moments of happiness in life's simple pleasures.

Freddy leaves behind his beloved wife of 36 years, Joyce Wilson, and his cherished children: Teonna Dabner, Curtis Wilson Sr. (Diana), Christopher Wilson, Christene Hardnett (Keith), and Winifred Russell (William). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and lifelong friends who will continue to honor his memory with love and respect.

Freddy is preceded in death by his parents, Frederick D. Wilson Sr. and Winifred L. Wilson, his brother Lyle Dungy, and cherished maternal and paternal grandparents, aunts, and uncles. As Freddy's light continues to shine, his legacy of love and compassion will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched. His memory will be a treasured keepsake held close by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Visitation will be 4-8 pm Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at Stark Funeral Professionals (101 S. Washington Street, Ypsilanti). A funeral service will be held 11 am Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Second Baptist Church with family hour beginning at 10 am (301 S. Hamilton Street, Ypsilanti).
