Dugas, Frank Gordon

Ypsilanti, MI

Age 81, died peacefully with his family by his side at St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor from complications after a 10-month battle with cancer. Frank was born September 15, 1940 in Detroit, MI to Francis R. and Mary (Mahoney) Dugas. They relocated to Willis, MI when he was three years old. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1958.

Frank worked for the Ypsilanti Savings Bank for 29 years where he met and later married Nancy Nowling on March 15, 1975. He retired from the bank in 1987 as the Senior Vice President and cashier. Following his career at the bank, he became a licensed Realtor with Century 21 Brookshire. Frank bought and sold many homes over his career and helped several families realize their dream of home ownership.

Frank was very active in the community through volunteer work with the Good Fellows, Ypsilanti Evening Optimist Club, Boys & Girls Club of Ypsilanti, the Ypsilanti Heritage Festival, the Ypsilanti Festival of Lights, and the Tax Tribunal for August Township.

In his spare time, Frank enjoyed going to the casino and looked forward to his annual trip to Las Vegas. He loved visiting friends and family in Northern Michigan and Albuquerque, NM. He was a huge sports fan and was a season ticket holder for Eastern Michigan Athletics and U of M football, and a past board member of the Ypsilanti American Little League.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy, son William, daughter Stacie (Angela), brother John R. (Kathy), sisters Bonnie (Ed) Davis, Mary Ellen Wood, and Patti Szabo; grandson Andrew, granddaughters Crystal (Joe), Stefani (Dereck), Brittani and Natasha; their Mother Wendi, several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Betty, brother-in-law Carl, and son Scott.

A visitation will take place 2-4 pm Friday, February 25, 2022 at Stark Funeral Professionals at 101 S. Washington St. in Ypsilanti with a celebration of Frank's life at 4 pm for anyone that wishes to share memories. Casual attire please.
