Birdyshaw, Eural "Leon"

Ypsilanti, MI

Age 79, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at his home. He was born June 16, 1944 in Manchester, TN, the son of Henry and Alta (Vibbart) Birdyshaw.

Leon taught for Belleville Public Schools for 28 years prior to his retirement in 1996. He was a Deacon at Ypsilanti Missionary Baptist Church. In his free time, Leon enjoyed reading, watching sports, traveling and spending time with high school buddies who were like brothers to him. He loved being outdoors whether it was skiing, hiking or backpacking. Above all, he treasured watching his sons and granddaughters grow up.

Leon is survived by his wife Deanna (Yates) Birdyshaw, sons Loren Birdyshaw and Edward Birdyshaw; daughter-in-law Danielle Birdyshaw, and granddaughters Jacqueline Birdyshaw and Lilah Birdyshaw.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held 11 am Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Ypsilanti Missionary Baptist Church (7180 S. Huron River Drive, Ypsilanti). Pastor Joe Kennedy will officiate. Leon will be interred in Highland Cemetery, Ypsilanti.
