In Loving Memory of Elly Gillespie

Elly Gillespie, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 5:05 pm, surrounded by loved ones. She was born as Elinor Vsetula on December 21, 1952, in Trenton, MI, to Mildred Marie Vsetula (maiden name: Ancinec) and Henry Frank Vsetula, who immigrated from Czechoslovakia.

Elly's life was filled with love from all of her family. She leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories that will forever be held dear by her family and friends. Elly is survived by her sisters Maryann and Millie, who shared a special bond with her throughout their lives, her brother Joe and her remaining son David.

As a mother, Elly was an unwavering source of support for both her sons, David and Michael. Her love knew no bounds as she guided them through life's challenges with strength and compassion. Elly's grandchildren Kelsey, Kimberly, Kayla, DJ (David), Arianna, and Kaitlyn were the light of her life. She showered them with affection and wisdom that will forever continue to shape their lives.

Elly also had the privilege of being a great-grandmother to Grace and Emma, who brought immense joy into her world. Their laughter filled her heart with warmth beyond measure.

Minnie, her faithful dog companion, continues to bring comfort and unconditional love to the family.

Although we mourn the loss of our beloved Elly, we find solace in knowing that she has been reunited with those who went before her. She is now at peace alongside her parents, son Michael Alan Gillespie, and other loved ones who have passed away.

Elly was very proud of her Czechoslovakian heritage, carrying the spirit of her ancestors with grace and strength. She instilled in her family a deep appreciation for their roots.

A viewing will be held at Stark Professionals in Ypsilanti, MI, on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 10 am followed by the funeral service at 11 am. Family members, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by Elly are invited to join us in honoring her memory during this time.

Elly had a unique way of showing kindness to others - she possessed an innate ability to know when someone was unwell and always took care of them, ensuring they received what they needed. Her genuine care and compassion touched the lives of many.

In honor of Elly's memory, the family kindly requests that donations be made to her son, David Gillespie, as it will help support him during this difficult time.

Elly Gillespie will forever remain in our hearts. Her spirit will continue to guide us, reminding us to embrace each day with love and kindness. Though she may no longer be with us physically, her legacy lives on through the memories we hold dear.
