Our beloved Elijah "Butch" Walker passed peacefully on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at the age of 76. Elijah was educated in the Ypsilanti school system and graduated from Ypsilanti High School. He was employed by Chrysler and Marriot Hotel. He retired after working for Marriott Hotel for many years. At an early age Elijah accepted Christ as his Lord and personal savior. He joined St. John Baptist Church in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He was preceded in death by: his parents, James Walker Sr. and Addie Walker; his son, Anthony Walker; his sister, Mattie Walker; and his two brothers, James Walker Jr. and Michael Walker. He leaves to cherish his loving memory: his daughter, Kimberly (William) Boynton of Grass Lake, MI; his grandchildren, Zaria Walker, Devin Boynton and Kevin Parsons; a bonus grandson, Terrance Merriweather Jr.; seven great-grandchildren; his favorite niece Cynthia Haywood; three special friends, Diane Merriweather, Shirley Morton and Bessie West; a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends. A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 am on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Stark Funeral Professionals with Pastor Gilbert Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow immediately after the service at United Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Public viewing and family hour will be held at 10 am on Thursday, July 25, 2024 prior to the funeral service.
