Edward Clarence Tucker, affectionately known as "Ed," was born on May 26, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan to Edgar C. and Jennie Mae Tucker. He accepted Christ at an early age, a faith that guided his life of service, wisdom, and compassion.

A proud graduate of Cass Technical High School, Ed pursued his love of learning at Wayne State University, majoring in economics. He remained a voracious reader and lifelong student of life, health, business, and culture. Ed served honorably in the U.S. Army Reserves and was recognized as an expert rifleman.

Professionally, Ed built a career rooted in excellence and leadership. He was part of the executive team at J.L. Hudson's Department Store (now Macy's), where he was admired for his sharp business acumen. He later founded Edward C. Tucker & Associates, a consulting firm with a presence in Ann Arbor–Ypsilanti, Detroit, Flint, and San Diego. His tireless work to support economic opportunity earned him the President's Award from the Minority Business Owners of Southeastern Michigan.

He believed in giving back and volunteered with Washtenaw County Veteran Services, served faithfully at Strong Tower Ministries, and advocated for others as president of the residents' council at Towne Centre Place — where he was not just a leader, but family. Those who knew Ed remember his booming laugh, quick wit, and magnetic personality. He was deeply social and endlessly generous — the kind of man who made you feel seen and valued. Ed never met a stranger, never pulled a punch, and always left you thinking, smiling, or both. If you spent time with him, you came away changed — lifted by his honesty, humor, and warmth.

Above all, Ed was a man of heart. His greatest partnership was with Maria Galvan.  One cannot speak of Ed's life without honoring the extraordinary bond he shared with Maria. Their partnership was one of unwavering support, mutual respect, and quiet strength — a true love story that endured until his final breath.

He is preceded in death by his parents and leaves behind his beloved partner Maria Galvan; son Edward C. Tucker Jr. (Monica); daughter Tammela Gilbert (William); granddaughter Ariel Bradford (Bradford); great-granddaughter Noelle Bradford; brothers Edgar C. Tucker Jr. (Olibisi) and Donald C. Coleman (Ruth); Aunt Rose Haley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and treasured friends.
