Age 87, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Hampton Manor Assisted Living in Taylor, MI surrounded by his family. He was born October 5, 1936 in Blairs Mill, KY, the son of Lonnie and Clacy (Parker) Thornsberry. On March 10, 1956 he married Marie Lewis in West Liberty, KY and she preceded him in death. Edgar was employed at Ford Motor Company Saline Plant for 30 years. Edgar loved going to NASCAR races and salmon fishing. He was a member of Trinity Free Will Baptist Church of Ypsilanti, MI.

Edgar is survived by his children, Keith (Becky) Thornsberry, Denina (Billy) Jarvis, Rex (Carolyn) Thornsberry and Ronald (Cindy) Thornsberry. He is also survived by his grandchildren whom he loved very much, Marissa (Jeff) Dupuis, Laura (Ben) Sutton, Jennifer Jarvis, Anne (Derek) Bennet, Chelsey (Neal) Robertson, Ronnie (Allison) Thornsberry and Shelby Thornsberry; and eight great-grandchildren, Dylan, Cameron, Grady, Sophia, Autumn, Vivian, Hunter and Abel. Edgar is survived by his brothers Delbert (Bertalee) Thornsberry and Donald (Nancy) Thornsberry; sisters Della (Chuck) Miller, Ava (Tony) Jennings-Carool and Marleen (Garlen) Crose; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his loving wife of 60 years, he was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Ruby Wallace, Marie Lewis and Thelma Bumgardner.

The funeral service will be 11 am Friday, January 12, 2024 at Trinity Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Calvin Brown officiating (410 Oregon St., Ypsilanti). Burial will follow in Cherry Hill Cemetery. Contributions in Edgar's memory may be made to Trinity Free Will Baptist Church Camp Meeting. Envelopes will be available at the church and funeral home, where the family will receive friends Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 2-8 pm and Friday at the church starting at 10 am.
