Doris Hickman was born in Leland, Miss. on December 18, 1943. She was the fifth born of eight children born to the union of Rosie & Ulysses Brown Jr. After moving to Michigan in July 1966, she met and married loving husband Charles on October 31, 1975.

In the early 90's Doris and her husband began hosting Sunday dinners at their home where many family members and friends partook in tons of good food and laughter. It made her happy to feed others.

She loved her church and church family. She was a family member of Christ Temple Baptist Church and was faithfully in attendance until her health began to decline. She worked for General Motors for 13 years before working for Value World for 25 years.

On July 11, 2022 Doris, the loving mother of three girls was called home to her place of heavenly rest. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings: Mary Castion, Tuncheller Brooks, Willie Mae Hargrow, Sallie Mae Ware, Willie Brown Sr., Bernice Brown, and Ulysses Brown II, and one granddaughter Tiara Lanae Lee.

She Leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband Charles Hickman, three daughters, Tina (Ozzie) Mims of Las Vegas, NV. Yolanda Hickman of Westland, MI. and Jacquata Lee of Ypsilanti, MI. One sister in Law Janice Lewis of Oklahoma City and two brothers in law Gary Hickman of Dallas, TX. and Ernest Washington of Ypsilanti, MI. Eight grandchildren, Shannon, Ozzie II, Devonte, Nakisha, Franklin III, Keshawn, Kionante, and London. Nine great grandchildren: Kahlil, Shannon Jr., LaNiya, Le'Aja, Ozzie III, Shane, Ozzyhon, Ozaria, Lauryn. Three special friends Shirlean Myers, Geraldine Taylor, and Brenda Dew, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who were very dear to her.

Visitation will be Friday, July 22, 2022 from 4-7pm at Stark Funeral Professionals, 101 S. Washington St. Ypsilanti. The funeral service will be Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 11:00am with family hour beginning at 10:00am at Christ Temple Baptist Church, 2372 Holmes Rd. Ypsilanti.
