Age 77, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at her home surrounded by family. She was born November 16, 1945 in Cadiz, KY, the daughter of George Gilmer and Nancy Loutisha (Griffin) King.

Doretta was proud to be the wife of the Whittaker Free Will Baptist Church's Pastor. She was a long-time supporter of Women Nationally Active for Christ and enjoyed reading. She treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren. Doretta worked as a bookkeeper, receptionist, bus driver and bank teller prior to retirement. She married Reverend Louis G. Tolbert November 28, 1964 in Fort Campbell, KY, and he survives.

In addition to her loving husband of 58 years, Doretta is survived by her children Tammera Williamson, Tony (Sandy) Tolbert, Chris (Susan) Tolbert, Nancy Osborne and Terry Osborne; grandchildren Holley Williamson, Adam Williamson, Kyle Tolbert, Noah Tolbert, Erin Tolbert, Cody (Lauren) Chatfield, Kyle (Rachel) Chatfield, Tanner (Abby) Chatfield, Brandyn (Whitney) Osborne and Taylor (Sam) Osborne; great-grandchildren Ezra Chatfield and Jae Chatfield; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents George Gilmer and Nancy Loutisha King; brother Larry W. King, sister Martha L. King and son-in-law Jeffrey Williamson.

A funeral service will be held 1 pm Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Trinity Free Will Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 11 am (410 Oregon Street, Ypsilanti). Pastor Calvin Brown will officiate. Doretta will be laid to rest and Highland Cemetery in Ypsilanti.
