Ballard, Donald Lee

Age 67, passed away Friday, June 10, 2022 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Superior Township, MI. He was born February 28, 1955 in Zainsville, Ohio, the son of Donald Hue Ballard and Sumie (Sheraishi). His father Donald Hue Ballard passed away when he was three years old.

Donald graduated from Willow Run High School in 1973. He was an avid pool player and loved playing pool with his family. He belonged to the American Pool players Association (APA) for over 30 year. Donald also enjoyed playing poker on Tuesday nights. He was a happy, positive person with a big heart; the type of person who would give anyone the shirt off his back. His sense of humor and consistent laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Donald is survived by his wife Cathy, children Donald (Heather) Ballard Jr., Crystal (Jason) Bennett and LeeAnn Ballard; ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild, his father Clyde "Sonny" Cherry, sisters Patty Bradley (Jeff Ball) and Kathleen (Terry) VanHoose; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A special thank you to Donald's niece Alana Keehl for her nursing care and being there for him the last few years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Sumie.

A funeral service will be held 7 pm Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Stark Funeral Professionals with Pastor John White officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 pm until time of service.
