Robinson, Deotis

Deotis Robinson was born on May 1, 1933 in Arkadelphia, AR to Mitchell and Florene (Mitchell) Robinson. He was the second of five children.

Deotis received his formal education in the Arkansas public school system. He was united in marriage to Lillie B. Stitt, to this union five children were born: Michael D. Robinson, Demitrus K. Robinson, Cherissa J. Robinson, Teresia F. Robinson and Tina M. Robinson.

Deotis was a supervisor in environmental services for The Denver Post in Denver, CO, and also worked in hospitality for a period of time. He was an excellent billiards player and enjoyed driving in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. He was an avid Bible reader and loved gospel music who attended Messias Temple Church in Ypsilanti and Zion Temple Pentecostal Church in Denver. He was a well-dressed man known for his collection of Stetson hats. He was mostly a solitary man.

Deotis made his transition June 25, 2024. He leaves to cherish his memory his children Cherissa J. LaMarr, Michael D. Robinson, Teresia F. Robinson, all of Ypsilanti, MI, Tina M. Robinson of Detroit, MI; Leverne Robinson and Donald Robinson of Denver, CO; sisters Florella Houghton and Ida Bell Kaufman of Lansing, MI; nieces Alma S. Robinson and Pat Robinson; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lillie B. Stitt, parents Mitchell and Florene Robinson; brother Charles Robinson, sister Mary Robinson, children Demitrus Robinson and Debra Robinson; and grandson Deotis Robinson.

A memorial service will be held 3 pm Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Stark Funeral Professionals. Family hour will begin at 1:30 pm. Deotis will be inurned at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, MI.
