Denise Leslie Backus

August 14, 1955 - January 4, 2024

Born to Lorraine Henderson (Malofy) and Beloved Father, William Carl Backus.

Denise is survived by her Daughter, Jennifer Roberts and Son, Brian Wardwell; Grandchildren, Lydia Roberts, Mallory Roberts, and Finley Wardwell; Sister, Susan Henderson - Conley (Backus) and Brother-in-law, Ross Conley, Brother Carl Backus, Nieces Lorraine Diaz and Michelle Diaz; Nephew Johnny Diaz (Tiffany), Great-Nephews, Robbie Carkner, Tyler Springall and Johnny Diaz Jr.; Great-Nieces, Taylor Duncan Diaz, Kiley Diaz, Lilly Diaz, and Emma Diaz.

Denise also left behind her companion dog, Jill. Jill was the sunshine in her life and now resides with other family members.

Denise was preceded in death by her beloved partner, Leonard Clark whom she loved dearly.

Denise was a kind and caring woman and loved by all of us and is finally free from the pain and suffering she endured. She was a volunteer for Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to them via the link below:

A memorial service will be held 11 am Monday, January 15, 2024 at Stark Funeral Professionals with visitation beginning at 9 am (101 S. Washington St., Ypsilanti).
