Murray, Debra "Carlene"

Taylor, MI

Age 59, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, February 17, 2022. She was born March 3, 1962 in Newport, TN, the daughter of Winford and Brenda French.

Carlene was employed as a bus driver for Lincoln Consolidated Schools in Ypsilanti, MI for 15 years prior to her retirement in 2007. She married John Murray August 3, 1987, and he survives. She was a lifetime auxiliary member of the VFW and past member of the Ypsilanti Eagles.

Carlene enjoyed music particularly gospel, country and soft rock as well as playing the piano. She loved playing with her granddaughter.

Carlene is survived by her husband John K. Murray, daughter Christina Murray-Smith, parents Winford and Brenda French, son-in-law Bradley Smith, granddaughter Aylish Smith, sisters Alicia (Patrick) Tanner and Julie (James) Sanders, nieces Cheyenne Tanner, Paige Tanner and Jessica Sanders; nephews Daniel (Alyssa) Tanner, William Tanner and Joe Sanders; and aunts Danese (Roger) Ball, Judy Haynes and Carolyn (Louis) Newman; in addition to many cousins, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Robert and Juanita Turner & Allen and Mable French; great-grandparents Claudia and Carl Brooks, uncles Frank Massey and Farley Haynes; aunt Wanda Smith and cousin Michael Massey.

The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date.
