Darrell Andre Rawls, passed away July 16, 2026, at the age of 39 at home. Darrell was born June 11, 1987 at St. Joseph hospital to Joyce (Eugene) Taylor and LV Gardner. Throughout his life, he was known for his quiet strength, thoughtful spirit, and deep love for his family.

Darrell found peace in simple things. He loved spending time fishing, frequently retreating into his own world to enjoy his music, and had a wonderful appreciation for comedy that often brought laughter to those around him. Above all he cherished time spent with his family and friends.

Left to cherish his precious memories are his parents Joyce (Eugene) Taylor and LV Gardner, grandmother Mary Rawls, Godmother Melanie Johnson, his devoted sisters Raven, Ebony, Qway, Chryel, Janae, and Sasha. Godchildren Mya, Nevaeh, Kyren and Cynnyah Roper, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended loved ones who were blessed to know him.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather Joe Lee Rawls, his brother Jamar Gardner, sister Keisha Gardner, uncles Tony Knight and Paul Patterson, cousins Sherre Rawls and Kenneth Pankey Jr.

The funeral service will be 11 am Thursday, August 6, 2026 at Second Baptist Church (301 S. Hamilton, Ypsilanti MI) with Pastor Michael Rosier and Pastor George W. Waddles Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at United Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 5, 4-8 pm at Stark Funeral Professionals.
