Daniel Newton Davis was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan at the old Beyer Hospital, December 15, 1946 to two loving parents, Newton and Virginia (Harwood) Davis. Daniel passed on January 24, 2023 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.

Daniel attended Lincoln High School and Cleary College and was soon called to duty to serve in Vietnam and honorably discharged. Daniel was employed at Conlin Travel in Ann Arbor for 30 years and retired in 2014.

Although Daniel was somewhat quiet and private, he spoke and cared deeply for his wife, Theresa (Weir) Davis, his mother, his children and grandson Zachary.

Daniel and Theresa were married for 43 years (September 28, 1979) and met when he began coaching her softball team. Together they enjoyed traveling, going to the movies, eating out and spending time with family and friends.

Daniel was an avid comic book collector, enjoyed reading, watching old movies, bird watching, trivia games and music. He sang in bands for many years with his brother-in-law Earl M. Matthews II. He was a novice in musical facts. He also enjoyed growing his peppers and making salsa with his daughter Elizabeth.

Daniel will be lovingly missed by his wife, mother, son Daniel Davis II (Laura), Elizabeth Isaacson, Jessica Davis, grandson Zachary Davis, his brother-in-law E. Michael Matthews (Dawn Taucher), nephew Robin Matthews (Patty Bradley), his aunt and uncle and many cousins. He also enjoyed all of Theresa's siblings and nieces and nephews. Daniel loved all animals especially his beloved fur babies Rex (who he'll meet in Heaven) and Frankie, and best friends Brenda and Dale Bucholz.

Daniel was preceded in death by his father, his sister Sandra Matthews, granddaughter Mallory Davis, his brother-in-law Frank Weir and sister-in-law Karen Lovely and many aunts and uncles.

A celebration of life will be held 11 am Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Stoney Creek Methodist Church in Ypsilanti with visitation beginning at 10 am. A luncheon will follow.

Donations can be made in Daniel's name to the Humane Society of Huron Valley .
