Christine Mays Anderson was the 10th child born to William and Cora Lee Mays on December 13, 1945. She grew up on the family farm in Milan, Michigan in a tight-knit and loving family. She had high regard, pride, and love for her family.

At an early age, Christine joined Pleasant Valley AME Church in Sumpter, MI. There she was apart of many committees, choirs, and boards. She had an unwavering love for singing in many choirs over the years. She took great pride in displaying her artistic side during Women's Day, Black History month, other church programs, and even weddings.

After graduating from Milan High School, and some business classes at Cleary College, Christine was recruited by the City of Ann Arbor to work in office administration. In 1966 she began working for the City of Ann Arbor's Human Relations Commission and Human Relations Department. Not only was she a proficient Senior Secretary for the City of Ann Arbor, she also extended her expertise to family, church, and friends. She took pride in getting jobs for family members and others in need.

When Christine and Tom Anderson married, that union was blessed with the light of her life, daughter Ursula Nichelle. The marriage ended but the love mother and daughter shared never did. Christine knew she heavily counted on Ursula to understand her ways. Which Ursula did- with love, acceptance and compassion.

Christine was a beautiful woman with a strong, powerful personality, quick witted, with the ability to laugh at herself, as well as others. In addition to putting together a complete head-to-toe fashion forward diva look, one of her gifts was the ability to encourage others. To help people dream big dreams, and move beyond their present circumstances to achieve them.

She left this earthly life on September 14, 2022 knowing that she was a forgiven child of God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings: Edith Mays Swanson, Clara Mays Mack, Carl Mays, Edwin Mays and William Mays. Survivors include her daughter Ursula, grandchildren, Tori Amison, Naia Amison, and Bryce Amison, siblings: Juanita (Lewis) Richardson, James (Eloise) Mays, Cora (Alfred) Huguely and Mary Kennedy, and a host of nieces and nephews. She will be missed and remembered by family and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Pleasant Valley A.M.E. Church with Family Hour beginning at 10 am (45620 Victoria Street, Belleville). The family will receive friends 4-8 pm Friday, September 23, 2022 at Stark Funeral Professionals (101 S. Washington Street, Ypsilanti).
