Charles C.P. Tavis

Charles C.P. Tavis, age 63, passed away on July 10, 2025, at Trinity Health Hospital in Ann Arbor. He was born on December 4, 1961, in Sacramento, California.

Charles was very proud to have served for 28 years in the Army National Guard, 45th Infantry Division of Oklahoma. A man of many interests, he found great joy in fishing, grilling, and cycling, including participation in the Detroit Tour. He also generously gave his time as a SAG driver for the Ride for Recovery, organized by Dawn Farm.

A devoted fan of Detroit sports, Charles followed the Tigers, Lions, and Red Wings with enthusiasm. He also enjoyed strategy and camaraderie through the online games of World of Warships and Call of Duty.

On December 10, 2012, Charles married Susan Chase and together they shared 12 years of love, laughter, and unwavering companionship. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his son, Christopher Tavis of Oklahoma, and his sister, Nora (Tim) Muse. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Johanna (Jacobs) Tavis, as well as by his sister, Renee, and brother, Danny.

Charles was deeply respected and cherished by those who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11:30 am Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Faith Church Denton United Methodist Church (6020 Denton Road, Belleville). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Dawn Farm or to any organization that supports veterans.
