Charles Virgil Loukiainen, age 92, passed away on November 28, 2025 in Ypsilanti, MI. He was born August 27, 1933, in Calumet, MI, the son of Charles Emil Loukiainen and Agnes Mary (Kovachich) Allen. He grew up in the Upper Peninsula and remained proud of his roots throughout his life. He was a graduate of Ypsilanti High School and retired from General Motors, Willow Run plant.

On March 24, 1979, Charles married Yvonne (Race) Loukiainen, with whom he shared many years of love and partnership until her passing on July 11, 2023.

Charles is survived by his children Mark Race of Ypsilanti, MI; David Race, of MI; Marilyn (Darryl) Pearce of Greenwood, SC, and Jonathan Race of Howell, MI; his sister Margaret Stokes of Ypsilanti, MI; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his loving wife, Charles was preceded in death by his son Phillip Race on September 11, 2012 as well as his sister Marie Agnes Creps on November 1, 2017.

A memorial service will be held 4 pm Friday, January 9, 2026 at the Kingdom Hall (6420 Tuttle Hill Road, Ypsilanti, MI).
