Catherine Annette Thomas, age 76, was born in LaGrange, Georgia to the late Robert Cameron Sr. and Willie Eva Sellers Gates and departed this earthly life on January 3, 2024 at St. Joseph Hospital, Superior Township, Michigan with her family by her side. She was educated by the LaGrange City Schools. Catherine was known by Catherine, Cat, Cathy, Teddy. When talking to her she would say, "What's Popping", f she wanted the latest news it's "What's the Tea", if you ask her what she's watching on TV, it's "TRASH" and when she saw a nice outfit on TV she would say, "I Can Rock That Outfit". These are some of the sayings that we will all miss as well as her beautiful presence. Let's not forget how she always dressed to the Nines and always driving a Red Cadillac. Catherine worked many years for Chrysler, she was a member of Community Church of God, Ypsilanti, Michigan and worked as a Nurse Usher. Catherine had an impact on many lives and taught many lessons.

Catherine leaves behind to cherish her loving memories the two most important men in her life; her husband of 47 years, Lloyd Thomas and son James Holland Jr. of Ypsilanti, Michigan. Brothers: Charles Gates, Summerfield, Florida, James (Delenia) Gates, Lawtey, Florida, Larry Gates, Madison, Florida, Sisters: Cynthia Gates and Ann Foley of Ypsilanti, Michigan and Elaine Gates and Brenda (Arthur) Stacey of LaGrange, Georgia, and Mary (Curtis) Brooks of Atlanta, Georgia; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends as well as a very devoted and special best friend that was by her side from the time she went to the hospital until her passing, Pat Hargrove, Canton, Michigan. A special thank you to her Pastor Portia Davis-Mann of Ypsilanti, Michigan for all of her support during Catherine's time in the hospital.

In addition to Catherine's parents, she was preceded in death by Grandparents: Ophelia T. Grant and Nettie Ruth Sellars, Brothers: Robert Cameron Jr. and Kenneth Lamar Gates, Sister: Beverly Hicks, Sister-in-Laws Bonnie Gates and Carole Thomas, Brother-in-Law: Emerson Thomas, Nephews: Clifton Gates and Christopher Harris, Godmother: Big Ma and a very special niece Hope McCullough.
