Hayes, Carolyn T.

Ypsilanti, MI

Age 74, passed away Monday, August 7, 2023 at Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital. She was born February 15, 1949 in Florence, AL, the daughter of Connie and Annie (Dozier) Thompson.

Carolyn enjoyed playing cards with a little trash talk. She loved a good brain challenge, especially puzzles. As a former basketball player, she loved watching the Detroit Pistons. She played the clarinet for many years and was known to love good music and good food. Carolyn enjoyed traveling and watching her children play sports all over. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family and grandchildren.

Carolyn is survived by her children Darryl Hayes, Kevin Hayes and Marqueze (Patrick) Avery; grandchildren Kourtney, Kourea, Keenen and Kamron Hayes, Hailey (Ruden) Becerra and Alex Herzog; great-grandchildren Aryanna, Amirah, Login Becerra, Ben Becerra and Raenah Rooms; niece Jacquewana Woods, and great-nephews Brandon Woods and Iejoma Ene.

She was preceded in death by her husband Connie D. Hayes, parents Connie (Nora) Thompson and Annie (Collies) Dozier; and sister Mildred Woods.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Patricia Meade and Jimmy Hawkins for always having Carolyn's back.

A funeral service will be held 11 am Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Stark Funeral Professionals. Pastor Freddie Banks will officiate. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am. Carolyn will be laid to rest in Highland Cemetery, Ypsilanti.
