Age 89, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023 in Ann Arbor, MI. She was born April 14, 1934 in Ypsilanti, MI, the daughter of Carl and Gladys (Eggert) Lambarth.

As a graduate of Michigan State University, Carla was a social worker for many years in the Grand Rapids, Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti areas. She was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church of Ypsilanti, lifetime member of MSU Alumni Association and an active long-time member of Amnesty International USA.

Carla enjoyed time spent with family and friends. She especially cherished the friendships made throughout her life and remained in touch with many of them through the years. Her church and church family were of the utmost importance to her. They gave her life a sense of purpose and direction. She was most passionate about the local and global outreach efforts of the church to assist those in need. Carla had a longtime interest in social justice issues, inclusiveness and concern for the less fortunate.

Though the years, Carla especially enjoyed international travel and the broadening and unique experiences it brought along with a deeper appreciation of people of different races, religions and ethnic backgrounds. Other pastimes Carla enjoyed were reading a good book and listening to music.

A funeral service will be held 11 am Monday, November 13, 2023 at First United Methodist Church of Ypsilanti. Visitation will begin at 10 am. Carla will be laid to rest in Washtenong Memorial Park, Ann Arbor.
