Age 73, passed away Friday, August 5, 2022 in Superior Township, MI. She was born November 2, 1948 in Dema, KY, the daughter of Carmel and Gusta (Childers) Combs.

Brenda loved to travel. Although her family moved to Michigan when she was a child, she enjoyed going back to Kentucky and visiting family until she was 70, when health made it difficult for her to travel. Brenda enjoyed listening to gospel music, attending gospel music concerts, and cooking for others. She treasured time with family most.

Brenda is survived by her siblings Lynette (Brian) Truitt and Fern (Larry) Henderson; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim Rains, children Christina Rains and David Rains; and brother Greg Combs.

A funeral service will be held 12 pm Saturday, August 20, 2022 at New Life Bible Baptist Church (1175 S. Grove Street, Ypsilanti) with Reverend Robert Mack officiating. The family will receive friends at the church 11 am until time of service. Brenda will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery in Ypsilanti.
