Brenda Kay Griffin was born August 25, 1954, in Flint, MI to the late Mable Lee Crout and Willie Lee Wright Sr. She later moved to Ypsilanti, MI. where she worked at Ford Motor Company and raised her children. Brenda later attended Ypsilanti Adult Education, where she received her GED.

Brenda's (Mama) life was a testament to selfless love and unwavering loyalty. She was a beacon of warmth and compassion to all that knew her. Embracing every child that crossed her path as if they were her own. Her home was a sanctuary of nurturing care, where she provided constant love and comfort to anyone in her path. Mama had an extraordinary gift for making anyone feel cherished and special. She was always offering a guiding hand and gentle heart without hesitation. Mama is the true definition of "One of One." Her many acts of kindness will continue to live on through the countless lives that she touched. Brenda was a true blessing to so many.

She leaves to cherish her memory, life partner Gary Williams, daughters, LaShawndala (Wardell) Griffin-Davis, Keynosha (Larry) Smith, Earlene Hatch and Audie (Roy) Pope; sons, Marcus (Komea) Hatch, Gary Lamar Wiliams Jr. and Gavin Williams; sister, Linda (Craig) Freeman, brothers Larry (Marilyn) Crout and Rev. Dr. JN (Audrey) Crout; nephews who were like her sons, Andre Martin, Justin Pendergrass, James Pendergrass, and Shaquille Martin; goddaughter Altice (Bookie) Johnson, 15 Grandchildren, three great grandchildren. lifelong friend Shirley Roberson and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother Mabel Crout, brothers Herald Martin, Willie Lee (Frog) Wright, John Lee Crout and sister Kattie Patterson.
