Bonnie Theresa Heaney, 75, passed peacefully on Thursday, October 12, 2023, surrounded by her family after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

Bonnie was a loyal wife, a loving mother, and an affectionate grandmother. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ypsilanti. She was president, owner, and operator of Heaney General Contracting, Inc., which she ran alongside her adoring husband Jim and their two children, Michael and Lisa.

Bonnie was one of seven children born to Melvin and Mable Davis. She was born in Aitkin, Minnesota and was raised and schooled in Ypsilanti, where she met her husband, Jim, 57 years ago. They were married on July 26, 1969 and welcomed their first child, Lisa, into the world the following summer. The couple celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this year. They have provided a rare example of love and devotion throughout the decades and against all adversity.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her mother and father, and by her brothers Jim Davis, Mike Davis, and Dick Davis. She leaves behind her husband Jim Heaney, son Michael Heaney, daughter Lisa Ciaravino (Darrell), grandchildren Andrew Chitwood and Teresa Ciaravino; sisters Pat Davis and Barb Davis-Hinkle (Larry); brother Joe Davis, sisters-in-law Martha Davis and Lily Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bonnie is already greatly missed. She has left a lasting impression on the hearts and minds of everyone that knew her. Above all, she was energetic, loving, and had the most beautiful laugh.

Visitation will be held 4-8 pm Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Stark Funeral Professionals, 101 S. Washington St. Ypsilanti. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 am Thursday, October 19, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with In State beginning at 9 am.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
