Bobbie Sue Cunningham-Hecht, age 77, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 16, 2026 at her daughter Angela's home in Saline, Michigan, following a nearly six-year battle with colorectal cancer.

Bobbie was born on May 29, 1948, in Murray, Kentucky, to James Floyd Cunningham and Minnie Lorraine Rogers. At the age of two, she moved with her family to Ypsilanti, Michigan, where her father pursued work in the auto industry. She later lived in Highland Park and Pontiac. After the loss of her mother at age 14, Bobbie and her three younger sisters, Joyce, Debbi and Terri, were raised by their aunt and uncle, Christine and George Glover, in Ypsilanti along with their children Jerry and Phyllis.

She attended Willow Run Schools and graduated in 1966. During her high school years, she formed lifelong friendships with Claire (Davis) Ratliff and Shirley (Phelps) Price —friendships she treasured throughout her life.

On June 29, 1968, Bobbie married William Glenn, who was also a close high school friend. Together they raised two daughters, Angela and Jennifer and built their own home in Willis, Michigan. Bobbie worked as a secretary and church coordinator at the First Presbyterian Church in Ypsilanti, where she was a devoted member for many years. She later worked for Lincoln Schools as a para-pro and then secretary in the Business Office and Bessie Hoffman Elementary, where she found great joy in working with children. She retired in 2007 after many years of dedicated service.

In June 2007, Bobbie married Edward Hecht and moved to Dallas, Texas. She embraced this new chapter of her life and became an active member of First Baptist Dallas. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she found comfort, strength, and joy in her relationship with Christ. After Edward's passing in November 2012, Bobbie returned to Michigan in December 2015 to be near her beloved children and grandchildren, and lived in Milan until her passing.

In her later years, Bobbie worked in the floral department at Kroger in Milan and Dundee, where she delighted in using her God-given creativity. She had a special gift for bringing beauty into the world and especially enjoyed sewing, knitting, stained glass, and interior decorating.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edward Hecht; her youngest sister, Terri Shorter; and her son-in-law, Shawn Wright.

She is survived by her daughters, Angela Wright and Jennifer (Jeremy) Laura; her grandsons, Noah, Evan, and Ryan Wright; her sisters, Joyce (Larry) Shipman and Deborah (Fred) Baca; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Bobbie will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her strength, her creativity, and her deep love for her family. She lived her life as a reflection of Christ's love, and her family finds peace in knowing she is now at home with Him.

Respecting her wishes, the family will hold a graveside service at Washtenong Cemetery in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on Tuesday, April 22, at 1 pm, led by Pastor Chris Jarrett.
