Age 87, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 6, 1936 in Ewing, VA, the son of Peter F. and Ida M. (Young) Barnes.

Billy was employed by Ford Motor Company, Rawsonville plant for 30 years. He was a member of Local 849. In his free time, Billy enjoyed bowling and working on cars. He loved to sing and play guitar with his family around.

Billy is survived by his wife of 66 years, Virginia Barnes; daughter Debbie (Michael) Colby, grandson Joe Lorraine, granddaughters Shannon and Mendy Colby; several great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law Lon (Lana) Sampson and W.K. (Bartie) Sampson; sisters-in-law Joanne Widmer and Margaret Sampson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ray Thomas, Henry, Roy, Neal "Chet" and Morsin Barnes; sisters Flossie Jones, Helen Davis, Edith Silcox, Audley "Cleo" Carey, Dorothy "Cookie" Brodie and Grace Gay; brothers-in-law Fred Sampson, Jay Sampson and Press Sampson; and sister-in-law Lillian Helton.

A funeral service will be held 1 pm Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Stark Funeral Professionals with visitation beginning at 11 am. Pastor Gordon Moore will officiate. Billy will be laid to rest in Highland Cemetery, Ypsilanti.
