Betty Joan Rhodes, age 92, went home to be with the Lord on April 4, 2026, surrounded by her family at home. She was born on December 30, 1933, in Ypsilanti, MI to Percil Monroe and Jenny Mae (Roach) Alexander.

Betty spent her life rooted in the Ypsilanti community, where she was raised and later made her own home. She dedicated many years of service working for the VA Hospital, Auto Crat, and the United States Postal Service before retiring.

On September 22, 1951, she married the love of her life, Russell Rhodes, in Ypsilanti. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and simple joys. Betty was a devoted member of Willow Run Church of God - Victorious Life Church, where she taught Sunday School and, along with her husband, Russell, were leaders of Forever Young.

Betty found happiness in life's everyday pleasures—bowling, singing, traveling with her husband, and spending time with those she loved most. Betty especially cherished her grandchildren, and she also enjoyed reading and working puzzles in her quiet moments.

Betty is lovingly remembered by her children: daughter, Jean Morgan; son, Philip (Rhonda) Rhodes; daughter, Janet (Dennis) Barnett; and son, Steve Rhodes. She leaves behind a large and devoted family, including 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren, as well as her sisters-in-law Shelby Jean Alexander and Ina Gay Rhodes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Percil and Jenny Alexander; her beloved husband, Russell Rhodes Sr.; her son, Russell Rhodes Jr.; son-in-law Gary Morgan; daughters-in-law Joyce, Tammy, and Vicky Rhodes; as well as three sisters and two brothers.

A funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Victorious Life Church with visitation beginning at 10 am. Rev. Jonathan Rhodes will officiate. The family will receive friends 4-8 pm Friday, April 10, 2026 at Stark Funeral Professionals. Betty will be laid to rest in Washtenong Memorial Park, Ann Arbor Township.
