Hinzmann, Betty Jean (Koths)

Age 99, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2022 in Superior Township, MI. She was born August 30, 1923 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Hermann and Edith (Poet) Koths.

Betty was active in the American Rosie the Riveter Association (ARRA) and was proud to represent the group in the 2022 Fourth of July Parade in Ypsilanti. She donated crocheted afghans and over 1,000 clothing sets to Emmanual Lutheran Church in Ypsilanti, where she had been a member since 1945. Betty was an avid gardener and treasured the time spent outdoors.

Betty is survived by her children Yvonne Henry (Leonard Hastings), Dale (Louise) Hinzmann, Diane Safford, Lorri Doneth, and Robert (Donna) Hinzmann; grandchildren Rodney Henry, Edith Hinzmann, Julie Roberts, Michael Hinzmann, Jason Meadows, Robert Safford, Eric Arendt and James Doneth; great-grandchildren Camille Clark, Alexander Henry, Alexander Roberts, Katherine Roberts, Izak Lucas Hinzmann, Nickolas Lucas Hinzmann, Ethan Meadows, Allyson Meadows, and Brooklyn Arendt; great-great-grandchild Rhodri Clark; sister-in-law Judy Koths, and special family friend Paul Mamarow.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford Hinzmann, parents, brothers Thomas, Donald, Kenneth, and Robert; sister Ilene, and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11 am Monday, October 31, 2022 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with visitation beginning at 10 am (201 N. River Street, Ypsilanti). Pastor Alex Clark will officiate. The family will receive friends 2-6 pm Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Stark Funeral Professionals (101 S. Washington Street, Ypsilanti). Betty will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery in Ypsilanti.
