Betty Marilyn (Jett) Gerstler, 93, peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on April 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 2, 1931, in Paducah, Kentucky, to the late William Howell and Frances Evelin (Mansfield) Jett.

Betty earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Murray State Teachers College and her Master of Education from the University of Michigan. She served as a schoolteacher in several districts, including 13 years in Ann Arbor. One of her many great adventures as a schoolteacher was teaching English for a year at a U.S. Air Force base in Morocco. During her time in Ann Arbor, she taught 9th-grade English at Tappan Junior High School.

In 1962, Betty married Dwight Gerstler, and in 1968, she left her teaching career to devote herself to raising their two children, Bill and Laura. Betty was an unwavering supporter of her children's activities, from scouting and sports to countless school events. She was their greatest cheerleader, offering encouragement, love, and laughter at every turn.

A devoted member of First Baptist Church of Ann Arbor, Betty served faithfully in many ministries, including Junior Church, Vespers, and the American Baptist Women's Ministries. Her steadfast faith and servant's heart led her to numerous opportunities to share Christ's love with others. Betty's joyful spirit and unique sense of humor touched everyone she met, leaving a lasting and positive influence.

Betty is survived by her son, William Dwight (Cheryl) Gerstler; her daughter, Laura Lynne (Marvin) Wright; and her four treasured grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Kelsey Gerstler, and Vanessa and Brandon Wright.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dwight Albert Gerstler, and her brother, Richard Howell Jett.

A funeral service will be held 1 PM Saturday, May 3rd, 2025 at Stark Funeral Professionals. Family hour to begin at 11 am. Betty will be laid to rest in Washtenong Memorial Park.
