Bernadette Marie Tuszynski was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 4, 1944 to Casimir Tuszynski and Frances Pierzynski. She was the second of three children.

Bernadette was educated in the Detroit Catholic school system and received her high school diploma from Holy Redeemer. In 1964, Bernadette married Gerald Podczervinski. To this union, five children were born: Allen, Annette, Paul, Kevin and Michelle. As a housewife, Bernadette's focus was her children. They all fondly remember her cooking traditional Polish meals, including homemade pierogis and kielbasa and singing with a voice that carried far and wide.

Prior to retiring, Bernadette worked at Wolverine Packaging, Montgomery Wards and Sears. She retired from Sears in 2006 and entered into a life of leisure. She enjoyed playing card games, such as SkipBo, and has been called the Original Bingo Gangster by her children. She enjoyed watching action movies, thrillers (especially the Chucky series) and Madea movies. She was a fan of country music, most notably Kenny Rogers, Patsy Cline and Bobby Vinton.

While living at Whispering Willows Co-Op in Romulus, Bernadette attended Bible Study groups facilitated by local Baptist pastors. She enjoyed learning all she could about her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and continued attending Bible Studies when she moved to new residences.

Since 2006, Bernadette was a regular guest at her in-laws annual family Christmas parties. She would literally start talking about the party in June and would ask about it up until Christmas Day. She enjoyed the food, family, games, dancing and music. But most of all, she enjoyed her daughter-in-laws' Uncles, whom she nicknamed "The Eye Candy".

Bernadette made her transition on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at her residence in Ypsilanti, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, Casimir and Frances Tuszynski and grandson, Christopher Podczervinski. She is survived by her brothers Raymond (Faustina) Tuszynski of Michigan and Gerard (Carol) Tuszynski of Minnesota. She is further survived by her children: Allen Podczervinski (Westland, MI), Annette Mourey (Detroit, MI), Paul (Teneisha) Podczervinski of Ypsilanti, MI, Kevin Podczervinski (Taylor, MI) and Michelle Jones (Burley, Idaho). She also leaves to cherish her memory, her honorary in-laws, Les Rose, Samantha Byrd and Randi Spada. She will be remembered by her grandchildren, Christian, Ciara, Ashley, Jasmine, Noah, Harold Jr and Natalie; as well as her great-grandchildren, Breighlynn and Bentley.

The family of Bernadette Marie Podczervinski would like to thank the staff at Mission Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation for their care of their mother. "Bernie" as she was called by friends, enjoyed many of the other residents and had special relationships with several staff members. They are truly the unsung heroes of elder care. We may not know you by name, but we appreciate and are grateful for each of you.

To our dear Uncle Ray and Aunt Tina, words cannot express how thankful we are for your steadfast and unwavering support and encouragement. Having gone through caring for aging parents yourselves, your advice and wisdom was invaluable. Countless times when there was a need that we were not able to supply, you provided whatever was needed. Thanks to you, Mom did not want for anything, and we love you for that.
