Boprie, Barbara Belle

Ypsilanti, Michigan

Age 81, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 6, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born January 8, 1943 in Ypsilanti, MI, the daughter of James and Sophie (Makar) Green.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband Marvin P. Boprie, daughters Nanette (Eric) Myers, Michelle (Dwight) Seals and Nicole (Lee) Evans; brothers Russell Green, James (Dorothy) Green, Charles (Annetta) Green and John Green; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert Green, and sister-in-law Dianne Green.

Barbara lived in Ypsilanti all her life. She graduated from St. John the Baptist Catholic High School where she met her husband, Marvin. They were married October 3, 1964, recently celebrating their 60th anniversary with a family dinner. She worked as a Telephone Operator at Beyer Hospital until starting a family.

Barabra was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church. During her lifetime she also attended St. Alexis, St. John the Baptist, and Transfiguration Catholic churches in Ypsilanti. She was a great Mom supporting her daughters in their school activities; Volleyball Mom, Marching Band fundraiser and attending every performance and awards program they were involved in. She loved to help people; she was a volunteer at the local library and churches and was an active prayer chain member. She enjoyed herself and made many special friends as a member of the Red Hat Society and TOPS group. At home she loved to read mysteries and work jigsaw and crossword puzzles. Barbara made the best grape jelly in town from grapes grown in her own yard. Her garden and flowers brought her much joy along with the birds that would frequent it. She loved camping and traveling through Michigan with her family. She especially cherished making cookies and fudge rings with her girls at Christmas time. She loved her husband and girls dearly.

Viewing will be held from 4-8 pm Monday, November 11, 2024 at Stark Funeral Professionals (101 S. Washington Street, Ypsilanti). A funeral service will take place at the funeral home 11 am Tuesday, November 12, 2024 with visitation beginning at 10 am. Barbara will be laid to rest at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Ypsilanti.
