Baker, Barbara Joyce

Ypsilanti, MI

Age 82, passed away Friday, July 22, 2022 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born May 15, 1940 in Ashburn, GA, the daughter of E.D. and Julia (Taylor) Mullis.

Barbara loved country music, especially Patsy Cline. She enjoyed singing karaoke at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, VFW and Moose Lodge. The Rose by Bette Midler was a favorite of hers. Barb was comforting and helpful. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved everyone equally. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend. Barbara will be deeply missed by her family, friends and neighbors, whom she routinely invited onto her porch or to her table just to sit down and talk.

Barbara is survived by her children Iris (Pascal) Baker, Dale and Patricia Williamson, Debbi Maynard, Wayde Baker, Mike (Connie) Williamson, Keith (the late Sharlot) Mathis and Raymond (Mary) Baker; siblings Peggy Hill, Edward Mullis and Patty Mullis; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband James C. Baker, children Debbie Baker and David Mullis; and siblings Margaret Mullis and Timmy Mullis.

A funeral service will be held 1 pm Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Stark Funeral Professionals with Pastor Walker Harris officiating (101 S. Washington Street, Ypsilanti). The family will receive friends 11 am until time of service. Barbara will be laid to rest at Washtenong Memorial Park in Ann Arbor, MI.
