Anthony (Tony) Henry Peters, 81, left this world suddenly on February 3, 2022. Born April 19, 1940, Tony was a ray of sunshine with great character, a protector of his family and friends, a gifted storyteller, a devoted coach to many young men, including his sons and grandsons, and a beloved husband, father, grandpa, uncle, and friend.

Professionally, Tony achieved his dream of becoming a hairdresser and shared his craft as a teacher.  After two decades as one of Ann Arbor's top hairdressers, styling clients like Millie Schembechler, Vincent Price, and Olivia de Havilland, he transitioned to a career at the University of Michigan. He started as a painter and worked his way to retiring as a foreman at the University of Michigan Hospital in 1998. Outside of work, Tony was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Since the age of 15, hunting with his father, Tony never missed an opening day of deer season. As a 6'4" powerhouse, in his youth, Tony excelling in both football and baseball. He later channeled his love of sports into coaching in baseball, soccer and the Junior Wolverines football team, sharing his wisdom and talents with his sons and grandsons, he was a dedicated and passionate supporter of his athletic grandchildren, rarely missing a game.

Tony is survived by the love of his life of 60 years, Madeline (Hayes) Peters. He is also survived by his three children, Anthony and Jill (Henry) Peters, Anne (Peters) and Sam Iaquinto, Mark and Rhonda (Milam) Peters, four grandchildren, Sammy and Rachael (Smith) Iaquinto, Spencer Iaquinto, Delaney Peters, beloved aunt Ester Bauer, and sister-in-law Debbie (Hayes) and Al Witmer. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews that he loved, like his own children: Michael and Desiree Hertica, Tracey Hertica, Matthew and Jessica Hertica, Shelly (Clark) and Dave Fiegel, Butch and Teresa Clark, Gordon and Dawn Clark, Jennifer and Trevor Morrison, Rebecca and Darren MacDonald. Uncle Tony will also be missed by 28 great-nieces and nephews. Best friends and neighbors of 55 years, Jerry and Sandy Sutfin who will remain a huge source of comfort and support in Madeline's life along with Gale and Art Neil and Bernie and Paul Fiegel. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Trula (Katapodis) Peters, sister Kathleen (Peters) Clark, sister-in-law Bernardine (Hayes) Hertica, brother-in-law Brian Hertica, beautiful niece Ashley Atkinson, and several adored aunts and uncles.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life at Bethlehem United Church of Christ, officiated by Pastor John Kennedy, in Ann Arbor, MI, on Saturday, March 12, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive guests at 10:30 a.m.
