Age 80, passed away Monday, February 17, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born October 1, 1944 in Conway, AR, the daughter of James and Johnnie (Williams) Gatewood. Her family moved to Ypsilanti, MI while Annette was a baby.

She attended Ypsilanti Church of Christ where she taught bible class to two-and three-year-olds for over 40 years. She was a member of the Ladies Associates of Michigan Christian College. She enjoyed crocheting, playing games and crafting. Annette loved watching University of Michigan sports and baking for the holidays; she always made it special for everyone. She worked as an executive assistant at Veterans Affairs for 45 years prior to retiring in 2013.

Annette is survived by her siblings Joyce Freeman of Ypsilanti, MI, Rose Gatewood of Ypsilanti,MI, James Gatewood of Ypsilanti, MI, Kenneth Gatewood of Belleville, MI, and sister Sharon Moore of Whittaker, MI; a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents James and Johnnie Gatewood and sister Janice Gatewood.

The family has chosen simple cremation. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
