Anna Mae Weatherspoon-Vinson (nee Jemison), 89, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Creator on March 22, 2025 at her home, surrounded by love and care. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and devotion.

Born on July 23, 1935, to Bettie Jemison and Willie Collins in Moundville, Alabama, Anna shared many good times with her sole sister, Ruth Brown, of Alabama. They remained close throughout their lives, traveling and sharing good times together.

Anna married Edward Weatherspoon (d. 1986) and moved to Michigan and started their family. Later in life, Anna, married John Vinson Jr. and they remained together until his passing in 2022. Anna is survived by her daughters, Vivian, Eleanor, Angela, Michelle, and one son, Keith. One son, Gregory, and one daughter, Sheila, proceeded her in death. Her children meant the world to her. She did as much as she could to see them grow and prosper.

Anna enjoyed her role as grandmother for her grandchildren and you could see the gleam in her eye at family events. Anna cheerfully welcomed nephews, nieces, cousins and other family members, as well as friends.

Anna loved her job, having worked over 37 years as a nurse at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, in the newborn nursery. Anna spent some of her last years working attending to the critical care infants and their special needs, which she found very satisfying work. Anna was a member of The Order of The Eastern Star, attending when her health allowed.

Anna remained the heart of her family with a loving presence, whose warmth and wisdom touched all who knew her. She saw the good in others and tried to understand and help with kind words and deeds.

Anna departed from this earthly life with no fanfare, but she will certainly receive it at her heavenly entrance. Her wish for those whom she has left is that we love God and have an understanding, loving, and merciful heart in all things we will encounter.
