Age 97, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2024 in Adrian, MI. She was born June 8, 1927 in Manchester, MI, the daughter of Clarence and Eva (Smith) Armstrong. She married Odie B. Samples July 8, 1945 in Wayne, MI, and he preceded her in death.

Anna was a graduate of Chelsea High School, class of 1944, and retired from Michigan Municipal League after many loyal years of service. She was active in Immanuel Baptist Church for many years. Anna participated in many activities at the Ypsilanti Township Senior Center and was a member of ABW Ministries of MI. She enjoyed quilting, reading and traveling.

Anna is survived by her daughter Penny Ann (Jim) Morrison, grandchildren Matthew James (Morgan) Morrison, John B. (Morgan) Morrison, Patricia Thomas, Alan McGowan and Katie (John) George; great-grandchildren Astrid Thomas, Madison George, Mason George, Gianna McGowan, Charlotte Morrison, Emelia Morrison, Knox B. Morrison, Dayle Morrison and Clay Morrison; sister Eva Lou (Jerry) Sears, brother Clarence Jay (Brenda) Armstrong, and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Anna was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Cynthia McGowan, sister Madilynn Hayworth and brother Jack Armstrong.

Visitation will be held 4-8 pm Sunday, June 16, 2024 at Stark Funeral Professionals (101 S. Washington Street, Ypsilanti). The funeral service will be 11 am Monday, June 17, 2024 at Immanuel Baptist Church (1565 E. Forest Avenue, Ypsilanti) with viewing starting at 10 am. Anna will be laid to rest in Washtenong Memorial Park, Ann Arbor.
