Age 65, Alvin Edward Martin passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Regency of Westland. He was born on February 13, 1960, in Ypsilanti, MI, the son of Otis Martin and Annie (Booker) Horton.

Alvin retired from Delta Air Lines after 20 years of dedicated service in grounds and operations. On May 30, 1987, he married Elise (Holt) Martin at Belleville Metro Park, and together they built a strong and loving family. A devoted member of Saints City Church of God in Christ in Romulus, Alvin found great joy in worship, reading scripture, and fellowshipping with others.

He cherished spending time with his family and friends, casting a line while fishing, and cheering on his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes. Alvin's kind heart, faith, and humor left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Elise Martin; sons Edward (Angel) Martin, Akeem (Mary) Martin, Brandyn Martin, and Malcolm Martin; daughter Iysha Martin; grandchildren Amyia, Sylilah, Elijah, and Mykhale Martin; mother Annie Horton; brothers Elvis Horton and Green (Chanata) Horton Jr.; and sister Bebe (Bryan) Farhani.

He was preceded in death by his father Otis Martin Sr.; stepfather Green Horton Sr.; brother Otis Martin Jr.; and sister Elain Booker.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Whitehead Cathedral Church of God in Christ in Ypsilanti, officiated by Pastor Dr. Avery Brown. A public viewing will take place at the church on Friday, July 4, 2025, from 4 to 7 pm. Alvin will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery in Ypsilanti.
