It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Aiden Christopher Dornbos, who was tragically taken from us on May 23, 2026, in Belleville, Michigan, at the age of 17. Born on November 11, 2008, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Aiden entered this world on a day dedicated to honoring those who serve—a fitting beginning for a young man whose life was marked by a deep commitment to service and leadership.

Aiden was the cherished son of Steffine Edwards (James) and Jeremy Dornbos. He grew up in a loving family alongside his siblings Clay, Emily, Miranda, and Joseph. Aiden was deeply loved by his grandparents Mark and Tresa Ley and Chuck and Karen Dornbos. He also shared special bonds with his uncles Reymond Ley (and cousins Marilla, Bella, Bailey, and Gabe) and Michael Ley (and cousins Chaz, Blake and Vanessa), as well as his aunts Dawn Dornbos, Zi Dornbos and Renee Edwards. He was preceded in death by his step-grandfather Jim Edwards, whom he loved dearly and who now welcomes him into eternal rest.

Aiden was a proud member of the Class of 2026 at Belleville High School. He excelled academically and socially while making an indelible mark as a treasured member of the Naval Junior ROTC program. Serving as the Commanding Officer of the NJROTC unit highlighted Aiden's natural leadership abilities and unwavering dedication to his peers. His infectious smile and caring heart earned him the respect and admiration of classmates, teachers, and community members alike.

In March 2026, Aiden fulfilled a lifelong dream when he enlisted in the United States Navy. His intelligence, determination, and ambition promised a future filled with opportunities to serve his country with honor. Aiden eagerly anticipated this next chapter in his life—a journey that would have allowed him to make a difference while honoring the legacy of those who served before him.

The outpouring of love from family, friends, and the community is a testament to the impact Aiden had on those around him. His kindness, integrity, and sense of duty left an enduring legacy that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A memorial service will be held 2 pm Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Stark Funeral Professionals with visitation starting at 11 am. Aiden will be inurned at Highland Cemetery where a graveside service will take place following the memorial.
