Adrian C. (Hullm) Stanford was the eldest child of Helen and Wellington (Pete) Hullm, born on January 3, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan.

Adrian grew up in Farmington Township (now Farmington Hills) with her brother, Dwight and sister, Tracey. She was a precocious child with a lovely smile and sharp mind. And she loved everything musical. She eventually studied music and loved to sing opera, jazz, Motown, blues, hymns, rock, and Broadway show tunes.

In childhood, a large and loving extended family surrounded her. She enjoyed many family gatherings, celebrations, and vacations, particularly the trips to Fox Lake, Indiana and Idlewild, Michigan. And she was the alpha older sister, who nurtured and watched over her younger brother and sister.

Adrian attended the small, one room schoolhouse, Noble, during her elementary years and O.E. Dunckel Junior High. While in junior high, she was baptized at St Paul's Lutheran Church in Livonia, Michigan. She was the second generation of the Hullm family to attend Farmington High School.

Adrian joined several choirs in high school. There she developed her singing voice into one of the clearest, most beautiful voices ever heard. She was invited to attend Girls State summer leadership and citizenship program for High School Juniors. She also was invited and attended Interlochen Center for the Arts Music Camp, an internationally known center for artists. Adrian participated in the Junior Achievement program. She worked a summer job at J.L. Hudson's and modeled at the store.

Adrian attended Eastern Michigan University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. While in college, she met Paul Stanford and they married in 1965. From this union, she had Michael Sean and Kelly Ann.

After graduation and marriage, Adrian continued to live in Ypsilanti. She loved all aspects of education and development, especially her students. She started as a Mental Health Technician at the Downriver Guidance Clinic in Lincoln Park Michigan, where she nurtured development and cultivated well-being of children experiencing mental health and developmental difficulties. In 1976, she moved to Washtenaw County as the Executive Director of Head Start. She was hired as the Executive Director of the Ypsilanti Girls Club in 1977, where she coordinated programs and supervised all personnel. The Girls Club merged with the Boys Club in 1981 and she served as the Developmental Director and Director of Operations for the joint venture. Her final job was at Washtenaw Community College (WCC). She worked there from 1987 to 2010, initially recruiting adult learners and developing retention strategies. She often recounted the challenges the students faced and the solutions she offered. In her final position at WCC, she served at Club Sports, which gave students the opportunity to participate in various team sports.

Once she retired, Adrian still stayed active. She volunteered at the University of Michigan stadium (The Big House) on game days, as a ticket taker. She loved the energy of the fans. She also frequented all the local thrift shops.

But more than anything else, Adrian loved her family and her dog, Bentley. They were the center of her world. And when the grandchildren started to arrive, she was the ultimate Nana. They were her greatest love. And they loved her right back.

Her family was always in the forefront of her mind and the biggest part of her heart. While shopping or planning trips she would pick up little items for them. And when she talked to others, she would proudly tell a story or two about them. Her idea of a perfect vacation was spending time with her extended family. She loved to go on adventures with them and often fondly recounted the summers spent at Oak Island, NC with everyone.

Adrian went to glory on Saturday, May 28, 2022. We will cherish our memories of her forever.

She was preceded in death by her parents Helen and Pete, her brother Dwight, and her granddaughter Kayla. She leaves behind her dear children, Michael S. Stanford, and Kelly A. Warren (Larry); beloved grandchildren, Lewis Andrews III, Xavier-Michael, Isaiah, and Zaria Stanford; cherished sister, Tracey; her loyal dog, Bentley and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

We will always remember her as a wonderful friend and a woman of integrity, with a crazy sense of humor, a wealth of knowledge, an obsession for musicals (especially Hamilton) and a never-ending devotion for her family.
